Do What You Hear

Have you ever “tuned” out when your parents or friends were talking to you? Have you ever been so distracted playing your DSI that you did not even hear your mom call you for dinner? God does not want us to tune him out. He wants us to be good listeners who will know his voice. In the Old Testament Samuel was a young boy who heard the voice of God and responded to it. If we are faithful in hearing God in the small things, he will trust us in the bigger things.

It is important to learn how to listen to the voice of God. Think about what you could do to obey Him. Many times God talks to us in ways that we might not even know.

Here are some examples:

  • If you are thinking about a friend of yours then maybe God wants you to write him or her a note of encouragement.
  • If you see someone that is sad or has recently lost a loved one then maybe the Lord will give you a way to make them happy or cheer them up.
  • If you wake up in the middle of the night and you are thinking about someone maybe the Lord has woken you up to pray for him.

God wants us to listen and obey him but also to act on what we feel. Don’t be afraid to act on His voice.
