It’s been a few years since we last held a Kids Prayer training seminar. Due to budget constraints this was put on hold, although it was never far from our minds. Just as it is our responsibility to teach children to take care of their body or to do their homework, it is our responsibility to train our children spiritually and make a difference in their lives NOW before they grow older and find themselves away from God and beyond our reach. (Barna says three out of four will leave the church when they get 18 and never return)

This seminar will be different than previous years. While we will have some review, we will also have new methods and classes to further enhance those who have attended this training in the past. We are interested in your input; please send us what topics you’d like covered and we’ll review for inclusion.

  • Teaching Methods: Children learn differently, and therefore we need to know how to effectively teach at their age level and learning style.
  • Child Psychology & Behavior: Working with children can bring a wealth of frustrations and behavioral issues. Learn how children respond to events and experiences and how you can use this knowledge to become a more effective teacher.
  • Burnout Session: Burnout is real. Prayer and working with children in prayer can sometimes seem difficult and exhausting. Share your frustrations and questions and leave with renewed passion and direction.

Friday, November 11th

  • How to Start a Kids Prayer Ministry: Steps for starting a ministry including pastor/church approval, staffing, organization and more.
  • Kingdom Focus Praying: Our main focus in prayer should not be about us, but about the Kingdom of God. Learn how to “seek first the Kingdom of God” and watch as your own prayers are often answered in the process.
  • 7 Essentials of Kids Prayer – Part 1:
    • Worship in prayer: The importance and methods of integrating this into prayer time.
    • Kingdom Praying: Integrating prayer using the 10×40 window, missions, orphans, governments, etc.
    • Hearing God Speak: How children can learn to hear God speaking to them in various forms.
    • Praying for Healing: Ways kids can pray for physical and emotional healing.
  • 7 Essentials of Kids Prayer – Part 2:
    • Scripture Prayers: Integrating scripture learning using various methods and how kids can learn to write their own prayers that are scriptural based.
    • Children and the Holy Spirit: Become aware of the deep desire children have for the supernatural. Help children use the Holy Spirit in them and how it affects spiritual warfare.
    • The Armor of God: How to protect ourselves with the armor of God and how to lead children into using their spiritual gifts
  • Leading Kids in Dynamic Worship: Ways to integrate various worship methods kid-style.
  • Using Drama, Media & Thematic Elements: Go beyond just static teaching to provide a more dynamic learning environment that children will remember, be engaged with, and take home with them.
  • Creative Ideas: Use these ideas for themes, programs, and projects that will keep their interest sparked and coming back for more.
  • Parental Involvement in Kids Prayer: Kids prayer must go beyond the church and into the homes for it to truly be as effective as it can be. Get parents involved in prayer with their children using these ideas and see lives and home forever changed.
  • The Importance of Passing the Mantle: We are responsible for our future. If our children do not know how to pray, the fault will lie on us. Understand the importance of passing prayer and ministry to the next generation, as well as the difference between teaching and actively training them.
  • Evening Message: by World Network of Prayer’s Coordinator, Flo Shaw

Saturday, November 12th

  • Prayer Tools / Pray-as-You-Play: Kids love to play and have a great imagination, so take that imagination and turn it into prayers that kids will love.
  • Panel Q&A: Question and answer session
  • Scripture Praying: Ignite your children’s prayer by teaching them how to use the Word of God effectively in their prayers. Go beyond the “now I lay me down to sleep” prayers to ones that can shake heaven and hell.
  • Hearing God’s Voice: Prayer is two-way communication but often people find it difficult to get beyond the “list” of requests they give to God. If you can learn to hear God speak to you, you will change your life and every life of the children you teach in kids prayer.
