Asia Bibi was arrested on June 19, 2009, after she engaged in an intense discussion with a group of women who worked with her. Answering their calls for her to accept Islam, Asia reportedly told them, “Jesus is alive, but Mohammad is dead. Our Christ is the true prophet of God, and yours is not true.”

Upon hearing this, the Muslim women became angry and began to beat Asia, who was taken into police custody and then later condemned to die.

Many countries of the world do not have freedom of religion as does the United States and various similar countries. In those countries, to be a Christian can often mean persecution, torture, loss of family or home or even death. Each day countless numbers of those who have converted to Christianity are run down and imprisoned or prosecuted according to their nations “laws.” These laws are often contorted and misrepresented in hopes of ridding the country from a Godly influence of people and churches. We must pray for those who are being persecuted. We must defend their cause and cry out on their behalf. We must train up our children to be aware of these issues and if they are in a country where religion is practiced freely then we must also help them understand what a privledge they have that they must not take for granted.

Each day, please pray for the persecuted Christians of the world. Pray for Asia Bibi who was simply sharing her faith in God and yet has been imprisonsed for years now for doing so. Pray for Youcef Nadarkhani in Iran who has been sentence to death for his faith in God as well. These people are tortured for the cause of Christ and yet instead of giving up and denouncing God, they stand strong in their faith, face their enemies, and give God glory with each day of imprisonment they live.

Tell the children the stories of these true Christians. Tell the children the stories of those who have already been martyred. Get the children involved in the bigger picture and it will change their life.

Here are some prayer points that you can use when training your children to pray for these issues:

pray that Christianity would spread instead of being destroyed
pray that these cases of imprisonment would cause people to talk about God more and spread His Truth
pray that those being persecuted would stay strong in their faith and not give up
pray that those imprisoned would have favor with the guards and these guards would treat them well and be converted themselves
pray that the governments and laws of the nations who persecute Christians would be changed to allow people to serve God without fear
pray for the families of the persecuted that they would remain strong, keep praying, and put their faith in God
pray for the health of those imprisoned that they would be able to have physical strength and health despite the conditions they live in
pray that God would provide their needs
pray for intercessors around the world who would pray for their cause, their release, and their strength

All around the world Christians are being persecuted and terrorized. Many of us live in a nation where Christianity is a person’s choice and we do not have to fight for it, or hide to practice it. We are truly blessed, and must not take that for granted. We must train our children that millions of others are not so fortunate; we have brothers and sisters in Christ around the globe who die each day just for wanting to serve God. In your prayer time, make an effort to pray for these areas of the world. The following is an example.

Dearest friends,

Due to the very tragic events which happened last night sunday 9th of october in Cairo (24 christians have been killed and over 200 people injured during demonstrations which started peacefully), the pope Shenouda made a call of prayer to all coptic christians around the world starting from tomorrow morning tuesday the 11th of october. His call is to encourage anyone to pray and fast during 3 days for our country.

With this message we would like to kindly ask you to join us, according to your possibilities and capacities, during the 3 days of fasting and prayers for our land which needs so much your intercession. Let’s stand with our brothers and sisters who are passing by a terrible tragedy, sorrow, fear and incredible challenges we have not seen or heard of since the revolution. Together, let’s cry to our heavenly Father so that the situation in our area may change and that the leadership may recognize the existence of the christians and the rights of 15 millions of christians in Egypt. In the media, in the social aspect, there is a total ignorance of the christians and their rights.

This afternoon, thousands of people were at the funerals which took place in the large cathedral in El Embassyia, Cairo. A great sadness and sorrow was on the entire assistance.

As we are writing, the army is threatening the christians who are demonstrating down town. Hundreds are already in prison.

Thank you for your precious intercession and receive our sincere blessings.

for the Egyptian government to give fair rights to Christians in their nation
for the government to not allow the rioting and outbursts against Christians and the church
for safety for Christians in the area
for physical healing for those who have been injured
for emotional healing and comfort for those who have lost loved ones
for the gospel of Christ to be spread even further and God to be glorified
for strength for Christians to stand firm in their faith despite the opposition
that every effort to oppose Christianity would be stopped

Bibles for China

Amity Press is the only company in China that is allowed to print Bibles. But the government limits the number of Bibles they can print. Christians who share the gospel with others want everyone in China to have the opportunity to read the Bible. They are thankful for bold Christians who smuggle Bibles into their country. Pray the following:

that that the government will allow Amity Press to publish as many bibles as possible
that the bibles that have already been printed will be put into the hands of others that will use them to spread the gospel
that China’s government and people will become more open to Christianity
that the Christians that in China will be able to hold worship services in peace and safety
that God will continue to draw the Chinese people to truth and reveal lies about false doctrine they may believe in
that God will send ministers of the gospel to preach and teach in that country and provide the funds they need to do so
that more Christian churches will open up in China

PLEASE ARREST ME
Recently some American Christians visited Samuel Lamb, an 86-year-old pastor in China. Pastor Lamb was in prison for 21 years for spreading the gospel in his country. His wife and father died while he was in prison.

Pastor Lamb told his Christian visitors that he called the police a couple of years ago. “You haven’t arrested me in a while,” he told the police. “You need to arrest me because every time you arrest me, the church grows more, and I want it to grow.” Pastor Lamb leads a church of 4,000 people which has grown every time he has been arrested.

The leader of the group who visited Pastor Lamb wonders, “Am I willing to suffer persecution if it means the church will grow more?”

Focus prayer on a more regular basis on the fourth day of every month at 1400 hours (2 p.m.) on the 1.2 billion children around the world between the ages of 4 and 14. Seventy percent of these children are in the most unreached areas or the World in the 10/40 Window!

Pray for their basic needs of survival – food, water, crops, and livestock
Pray for medicine and doctors to be available in their area
Pray for people to go and have open opportunities to share the gospel with them
Pray for homes for those orphaned because of death, disease and violence
Pray for freedom for those enslaved in regions such as North Sudan
Pray for churches to be established in their area that teach God’s truth

13 year old girl charged with blasphemy in Pakistan

(ICC) 28 Sept 2011 – International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that yesterday more than 50 Muslim leaders in Havelian, Pakistan demanded that police charge a 13-year-old Christian girl with blasphemy after she misspelt a word while writing about Muhammad. Faryal Bhatti mistakenly used the word laanat (curse) instead of naat (hymn) while answering a question about a poem that praised Muhammad. The 8th grader was then expelled from school for blasphemy and now remains in hiding with her family due to Muslim threats. “Christians are gripped with fear because of this incident. Muslims clerics are very angry. Muslims want the Christians to leave the area,” said a Christian resident of Havelian in an interview with ICC. According to Pakistan’s blasphemy law, blaspheming Muhammad is a crime punishable by death. The law also states that desecrating the Quran, which is considered blasphemy, is a crime punishable by life imprisonment.

Pray for Muslims to have the truth that God is God alone, not Muhammad.
Pray for missionaries and ministers to have safe opportunities to share the gospel with them.
Pray that Muslims who are converting to Christianity would be protected and be able to live their new faith without fear.
Pray that leaders of Muslim countries would be converted and would help to change the laws against Christianity for God’s good.
Pray that through these situations of persecution God would be glorified and become more talked about.

Three Christians kidnapped near Kirkuk, Iraq

Three Christians were kidnapped when returning home from a hunting trip on 21st September, Middle East Concern reports.

[ICC] 9/28/2011 Iraq (Middle East Concern) – Three Christians were kidnapped near Kirkuk on 21st September. They were returning from a hunting trip when their vehicle was stopped by a group of armed men. A fourth person, of Turkoman ethnicity, travelling with them was also kidnapped. The group’s burnt-out vehicle was found shortly afterwards, and the remains of their hunting dogs were found inside.

Iraqi Christians fear that this is incident is yet another attack aimed at the Christian presence in Iraq.

Iraqi Christians request our prayers that:

The kidnapped men will be released unharmed
They and their families will know the peace and presence of Jesus
The kidnappers will repent and turn their lives to God
