How many of us would love to take "our kids" on a missions trip. Some churches and families are actually able to do that. However for most that is not an option. Below is a great way to take your kids on a missions trip. All you need is a little bit of forethought and imagination.

I issued passports to each child (there were about 20) and they had to go through "customs" to gain entry. We were traveling with a missionary (the pastor's son). The passports contained their pictures and an "official visa stamp" that I copied off the internet. Once entering Tanzania, we were greeted by a Tanzanian sister (really one of the teachers dressed in a Tanzanian attire) and I had Swahili gospel music playing in the background. There were plenty of "ahs" coming through the door! There were photos taken in Moshi displayed on all the walls.

I then began to bring to the children the work that a missionary must do when going to a foreign country and how that Jesus may ask them to go some day. Their total attention was kept during this whole time!

After a time of prayer for the missionaries and families in Tanzania, we had cake and "ugali" which contained meat and basically corn mush for a "taste of Tanzania." I got the recipe for this also off the internet.

The children were quite receptive and we will be attending another trip soon. The purpose is to widen their horizons at this age (they are anywhere from 6 to 10) to the call of God.

pictures coming soon
