Praying
Scripture is one of the most effective ways to pray.
There are many promises in God's Word and they are there
so that we can claim them. This is a powerful concept
for children to learn. There is an excellent curriculum
called
Shekinah Kids that includes premade Scripture
prayers for kids to memorize and use.
Another way to introduce kids to this concept is to have them look
up passages in their Bibles and walk around the room
reading them. If you click
here you can download a brochure that you can use to
get started. You can also teach your kids how to look up
words in the concordance to find a Scripture to fit the
need they would like to pray for. Below are
some examples of Scripture prayers written by a
group of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
You may remember the story of Larissa. She wrote a prayer for her
grandfather who was dying and who was also unsaved.
After Larissa and her brothers prayed the Scripture
prayer she had written out, their grandfather became
saved before he passed away. The concept of Scripture
prayers it is to get the content/meaning of the
Scripture more than memorizing it. When you mix faith
and the spoken Word powerful things happen. |
