You can set a prayer
station up for anything that your kids pray for. When
you are putting your prayer stations together find out
if you can leave them up or if you will need to store
them during the week. Tie the prayer stations into
things that are the core values of your church. The best
thing about prayer stations is that after you have
walked the kids through them a couple of times they will
be able to go to the prayer stations without help or
direction. Here are some sample prayer stations.
- Missions:
Materials needed: a globe, pieces of paper, and
flags of various countries. Encourage the kids
to ask God what country He would like for them to
pray for. They can find that country on the globe
and pray for. They can also write it down on a piece
of paper to make it easier to remember to pray for
that country through out the week. If the kids don’t
feel to pray for a country encourage them to pick
one of the flags that has a prayer need on it and
pray for it through the week.
- Healing:
Materials needed: a first aid kit, band aids, and
oil. Encourage the kids to pray for someone that
needs healing. Have them anoint a band aid with oil
and then deliver the band aid to the person they
prayed for.
- Community:
Materials needed: a map of your surrounding area,
a flashlight, names of local churches, and community
leaders. Have the kids pray for the
neighborhood, or the local churches, or community
leaders, or all three. They can also use the
flashlight to pray for God’s light to shine. You may
want to have cards or postcards ready in case the
kids would like to let anyone know that they prayed
for them.
- Local Church:
Materials needed: church needs (prayer requests),
a bulletin, and pictures of church leadership.
Have the kids pray for the needs of the church and
the church leadership. The kids can also pray for
upcoming events at the church using the bulletin.
Encourage them to pray for the upcoming service. You
could also use handcuffs to bind up anything that
would/could hinder the service and release freedom.
- Soul Tree:
Materials needed: A bare tree branch, old shoes,
markers, and post-it notes. Have the kids write
down the name of someone who needs salvation on the
sole of the shoe. The kids will pray for that soul
until they are saved. Once they are saved the kids
write down the name on a post-it note and place it
on the tree branch. You can also use a picture of a
shoe and once the soul is saved put that on the
tree.
