This month the kids side is dedicated to Kingdom
praying and specifically to praying for the 10/40
Window. If you have not heard about the 10/40 Window
before it is the part of the world that has the most
people but the least amount of missionaries. To find out
how to locate this area on a map go
here.
There are six main people
groups in the 10/40 window. These groups are Tribal,
Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim, Buddhists, and Orphans. This
can remembered easily be kids if you use the acronym
THUMBO. More information about each of these groups
along with Scriptures that can be prayed can be found
here.
There are several
different ways to pray for this part of the world. You
can use a globe or map to show where the area or country
you are praying for is. You can use the book
Window On
The World to help your kids understand some of the
history and problems in a country. Another good book to
use during your prayer time is
From Akebu to Zapotec: A
Book of Bibleless Peoples. This book does include
nations that are not in the 10/40 Window but a majority
are. You can find out who the missionaries are in this
area and try to get prayer requests from them. You can
use M&M's for THUMBO. Last weekend I met a kids prayer
leader that made key chains or book bag pulls using
beads in the colors of THUMBO.
Praying for the 10/40
Window is important because Jesus cannot come back until
everyone hears about Him. The Bible says that people
from every tribe and nation will worship around the
throne in Heaven. It will surprise you how much your
kids will enjoy learning about and praying for the 10/40
Window. Below are some pictures of how different kids
prayer groups have prayed for the 10/40 Window. Please
let us know how your group has prayed by emailing at the
link below. |
