L.A.B.B. Prayer
Adapted from Tim Carpenter
School of Healing For Kids Conference

Over two years ago I went to a School of Healing For Kids conference. The focus of this conference as you can imagine was for kids to learn what the Bible has to say about healing and different ways to pray for healing. The L.A.B.B. method was one of the ways used to pray specifically for healing. This is a very simple formula that can do mighty things in the hands of child with faith. It is also an easy way to train children to pray for the healing of others.

· L—Listen! There are three ways to listen for an opportunity to pray for someone’s healing: (1) by someone asking to be prayed for (a child has to listen/pay attention), (2) by overhearing someone speak of a need for healing (hearing someone tell a friend about his/her ailment), and (3) by listening to the Holy Spirit as it leads (perhaps an impression or feeling that someone needs prayer).

· A—Ask! You always need to ask for permission before praying for anyone. In order to know what to pray for you may also need to ask exactly what to pray for (back pain, cancer, blind eyes, and so on) don't assume that because someone in a wheelchair is asking for prayer that they want to be able to walk. This will allow the child to pray on the spot instead of waiting for a more “convenient” time to pray. It also engages the faith of the person asking for healing.

· B—Build Faith! The person requesting prayer must have faith that God will heal them. There are several ways that children can help build faith. Perhaps they have a story of a time that they prayed for someone and the person was healed. Or they saw a healing take place when someone else prayed. Another way would be to share any of the times Jesus healed someone in the Bible. They can also share a promise from the Bible for healing like Isaiah 53:5. Then encourage the children to ask this simple question: “Do you believe that when I pray for you, Jesus will hear me and heal you?”  If they are answered with a bold “YES!” then they should proceed to pray. If not, they are to continue to build faith until they feel led by the Holy Spirit to begin praying. They are looking for a witness in their spirit to proceed with prayer.

· B—Be Bold! Bold praying is done in Jesus’ name and using the word “NOW!” This is a point in prayer where people take authority over the ailment or situation causing pain. Pray not only for what is bothering the person that day but that God will take away the source of the pain so that is not a problem again. After you are finished praying ask the person how they feel. If it is something they can test immediately ask them to do so. If they are not 100% better ask if you can pray again.

This may seem like a simple method but it has been tested and had a 100% success rate. People have been healed of chronic headaches, arthritis, back pain, the flu, eye sight, high blood pressure and much, much more. This is a very good and easy way for your children to become integrated into ministry at your local church.
