There is a
definite move of the Holy Spirit breathing
across the world, calling children to cry out in
desperation for God to intervene in their lives
and for nations. I did a little snooping around
in Scripture and I found some examples of people
who cried out and thought the variety was
interesting. |
 |
- The
children of Israel cried out to God from
Egypt...He delivered them and when they
cried out again he led them through the Red
Sea...and when they cried out again He
turned bitter waters into sweet...and on and
on (Genesis).
- Though
living in idolatry, when Israel cried out
to Jehovah, He sent deliverers, starting
with Caleb's younger brother, Othniel
(Judges).
-
Disciples cried out to Jesus when they
were troubled on the sea...and He came to
them (Matthew 14:26).
- Peter
cried out to Jesus when the waves were
too much for him...and Jesus took him by the
hand (Matthew 14:30).
- Two
blind men cried out to Jesus, were
scolded by those nearby...and Jesus healed
them (Matthew 20:30).
- A
multitude cried out in
worship...Jesus cleaned up the temple
(Matthew 21:9-13).
- A man
with an unclean spirit cried out...and
Jesus set him free
(Mark 1:23-26).
- A
father cried out for his tortured
son...Jesus spoke to the evil spirit, then
took the boy's hand and raised him up (Mark
9:24)

There are many
more examples, but these give us a very clear
picture of what happens when people cry out to
God. He comes and causes things to happen. He
comes to groups, individuals, His friends,
strangers...He comes. In these instances when
crying out occured there was trouble looming on
the horizon, or a release from spiritual or
physical oppression. |
- In
NorthEast India 165 street children were
hosted in a local village church and their
response to the love of Jesus was to cry out
against their living conditions of poverty,
slavery, and addiction as well as their
spiritual condition. (See
photos in the kids side for Jul 2006).
- In China
video footage smuggled out of the country
shows children laying prostrate, unable to
rise under a heavy burden of some kind as
they cried out to the Creator and in some
cases even prophesied.
- At
Landmark Tab in Denver, Colorado,
(Littleton) twice in less than two months
the Sunday evening service was interrupted
as children began to cry out loudly during
the "traditional prayer" time. The children
were moved to an area outside the sanctuary
to continue releasing their burden in
prayer...many adults joined them.
- In
Bridgeton, Missouri, in a prayer training
class children were weeping and crying out
to God on behalf of others beyond any
experience to that point.
- At two
children's conferences held one week apart,
both located in Missouri, intense times of
crying out rocked the sessions in personal
hunger and group intercession.
- In Ghana
during a children's crusade, children were
not only seeking an experience of getting
full of the Holy Spirit, but were crying out
in personal pain and hunger for God during
times of prayer.

In light of this
pattern, I have to ask, "Why is it that
children are crying out around the world?"
Is there trouble looming on the horizon, is
there a spiritual release coming, or is this
generation being set free from oppression?
A minister's
wife from India explained her first experience
of crying out this way. She could not find
the pair of airplane tickets needed by her and
her husband the next day. She looked...she
prayed quietly as she looked, she even asked for
her husband to help...still no tickets. So, she
went for a walk to clear her head. When she
returned she still could not find the tickets
and something new began to boil over in her
spirit. She had just heard of the concept of
crying out and to be honest, it went against her
personality and nature. However in the hotel
room all alone she cried out LOUD and she said
that she felt something release in her that day.
But, still no tickets. That evening she and her
husband went for one last walk on the beach, not
sure about the next day's flight...when a man
came up to them and said, "I think these belong
to you." In mere seconds after examining the
tickets, they looked up to thank the man but he
was gone, nowhere to be seen on the quiet beach.
It sounds to me like Jesus came after she cried
out.
Something is
happening in the heavenlies (spirit realm)
and our children are aware of it on some level.
God is nudging them to cry out so He can come.
Come to the nations, release generations, raise
up, make whole, heal, set free, and rescue. Come
to tear down strongholds, push back the enemy,
bind the strong men and reign as Lord in the
hearts of people everywhere.
It's time to
CRY OUT! After all, I don't think this nudge
is just for children. |
