Block Parties...
Adapted from Alan & Pam Sklujaczech
Alexandria, LA
  • Block parties are used to promote an event at the church in various communities where there are lots of children.
  • The parties may include a parade, clowns, flyers, prizes, food, games, and entertainment.
  • Sometimes we walk or ride through the communities, and sometimes we hand out flyers and have an actual party in the neighborhood later that day serving hotdogs, juice, soda, and other things -- this is a promotion to get people interested in attending our church.
  • The kids really like receiving balloons from our clowns that are made into animals or other things like flowers, airplanes, swords, hats, etc.
  • Kids from our church are involved in the block parties through participating in clowning, creating and handing out the flyers, and assisting with other projects related to hosting the party.
  • Block parties can be held as often as needed - we've done them once a month and once every other month, depending on the need.
Prayer Volleyball...
Submitted by Kim Ballestero
Clearwater, FL
  • Use a beach ball instead of a regular volleyball.
  • The boys get on one side (playing the bad/dark side).
  • The girls get on the other side (playing the good/bright side).
  • One of the kids gets in the middle with the leader who is protecting him from the beach ball.
  • Every time the girls score it means the person in the middle prayed and read his Bible that day.
  • Every time the boys scored it means the person in the middle didn't pray and read his Bible that day.
  • The children really got into the interactive lesson.
