In Holy
Spirit Training, Part I, we learned that there
is a difference between teaching and training.
We also learned that even though we may not have
a background of being trained in ways of the
Holy Spirit, we can become spiritual trainers of
this up and coming generation.
In Part II, we will discover several practical starting points.
Then, each month for the next several months, we
will elaborate on each of the subtopics:
curriculum, history, listening, being full, and
taking the experience outside the church.
Enjoy! Any feedback or further questions about any of the subtopics
may be emailed to
kidsprayer@wnop.org so they can be covered in
subsequent installments.
Starting Point
-
Curriculum.
Hurrah! There is a curriculum and a
companion website that will feed your desire
to train up kids full of the Holy Spirit.
The curriculum, “School of the Holy Spirit”
is put out by KIMI (Kids In Ministry
International), and the supporting website
contains audio CDs and other training
materials that you will find helpful. There
are also conferences and special meetings
you can attend to get training and see
results. Go to
www.kidsinministry.com for more info.
-
History repeats itself.
This current pull of the Spirit for kids has
happened before. Becoming informed about
past experiences will impact your vision and
faith. Use these historical accounts to make
your kids HUNGRY for a supernatural and
sustaining presence of the Holy Spirit.
[Book: “Visions Beyond the Veil”-China.
Other related historical accounts occurred
in Scotland, Argentina, US, etc.]
-
Train children to hear the
voice of Jesus.
Recognize that Jesus speaks
to us today through our senses, all five of
them. Most of the time He communicates with
us, Holy Spirit to human spirit and decoding
that message takes practice. Do you
currently allow for quiet time or response
in your class settings or home devotions?
What impressions are your kids already
getting that they haven’t been given an
opportunity to express? Steel yourself to be
surprised at how easy it is for them to
connect to the Holy Spirit once they are
given instruction and practice.
-
Receiving Vs. Being Full
of the Holy Spirit.
Most of the references in the New Testament
(primarily in Luke and Acts) that deal with
the acts of the first church, spring from
accounts where people were FULL of the Holy
Spirit. Children who have received the Holy
Spirit, need to learn to be full of the
Spirit of God. There are reasons why that
can be taught, then trained into practice.
(1-Build up inner man, 2-prayer language,
3-signs and wonders, 4-witness to
unbelievers)
-
Take it OUTSIDE.
Encourage kids to take their experience
outside of the church. Pray for friends and
neighbors. Organize events for them to
participate in (whether it is praying for
the offering in a big church setting or
visiting a nursing home/hospital, etc.) and
encourage them in their development as
spiritual beings in tune with their Creator.
