So many times I've found myself getting
caught up in trying to learn from others to the
point that my own creativity gets lost in the
shuffle. Has this ever happened to you? Or
perhaps you are someone who has always felt like
you lacked imagination or your creativity level
isn't as high as that of someone else? I've
found that brainstorming is one way of
discovering or reclaiming my creative side. Here
is a quick example of how it works and how it
can benefit kids prayer.
I went to a Toys-R-Us store between Sunday services (Wal-Mart is
another great location) and walked around,
trying to find objects that would help me teach
kids about prayer. I found the following three
items and am excited to tell you that the
application of these toys are "deep and wide";
and not all the ideas are mine.
To expand the process, I shared these items with my partner in kids
prayer. She came up with several ideas that were
excellent and different from mine...which
sparked even more ideas. Then, I shared the same
three toys with a group of Christian Educators
from Gateway College of Evangelism this morning;
they came up with a wonderful and profound array
of ideas too.
Here are pictures of the toys, a picture of the gals who were such
a help at GCE, and our compiled ideas. If you
have anything different that comes to mind,
please
email me and I'll post your response to add
to the list. Let the fun begin!!!
