SAMPLE KIDS PRAYER CAMP WEEKEND SCHEDULE

THE MAKING OF A PRAYER WARRIOR
*Actually used in Botswana, Africa. Pick a theme and work songs,
worship, activities, craft, snack and lessons around the theme.

--------------------------------------

   FRIDAY Evening
6:30   Arrive/Registration
Kids LOVE getting a cool badge with the name spelled correctly on it! Have some kind of badge system ready to go. Also if necessary for security, prepare a pick up ticket for each child if it will not be an overnight event. Provide parents with a general schedule outline if at all possible.
7:00   Begin with Praise & Worship

Let kids be "praise leaders" during this time - singing songs of their choice that they think will allow the others to enter into Jesus' presence. Usually 2-3 songs is enough.
7:10   Welcome & Introduction
Introduce the theme of the camp and explain the schedule in general. Go over any rules or guidelines for the benefit of the kids and camp workers.
7:25   New Worship Song (theme song)
YOU ARE GOOD - Shout Praises Kids Gospel (DVD) with motions as they worship. Use multimedia whenever possible. After kids learn the motions, have competitions or if projecting the DVD music, turn the lights out and let kids worship. When picking a new song to teach, think of how often and where the song will be sung. You want something they can sing outside of the camp experience and also outside of Sunday school.
7:30   Main Lesson/Special Service

If possible, inviting a special speaker makes the event, well, "special." The focus of this lesson needs to be specifically on prayer training and doing. Also, if possible invitation could be given to receive the Holy Spirit. A great introductory topic (if this is the first camp) would be "Praise on Purpose" - Psalm 8:2, for example.
8:30-9:00   Flex Time
This thirty minutes could be spent in expanded teaching, doing, reviewing the new worship song, or even an "altar call" for those wishing to receive the Holy Spirit or healing, etc.
9:00   Snack
Prepare a simple snack to serve and eat while a video plays if possible in a room separate from the main service.
9:30   Dismissal
Kids can be dismissed to get ready for sleep (if it is an overnight camp), or parents pick up.

SATURDAY Morning
9:30   Breakfast
Let the kids (and camp workers) sleep in a little! If it is not an overnight, they'll still appreciate the extra time spent sleeping.

10:00

  Praise & Worship
   Kids lead

10:10

  Announcements

10:12

  Devotional(s)
Have camp workers or older children (pre-arranged) help out by giving a 15 minute devotional. Perhaps involve two or three shorter "devos" if necessary. Have the devos centre around prayer in a practical/unique way...object lessons are great here!!

10:30

  Craft/Activity
Divide the group into two groups if there are more than 12 children to do simultaneous craft and activity times. Having smaller groups makes it easier to coordinate. Craft idea could be to enhance the upcoming lesson, or a reminder to use at home, etc. Activity would be an interactive time of group involvement along the line of prayer.

10:50

  Snack Break

11:00

  Craft/Activity

11:20

  Physical Training (Organized Fun Time!)

12:20

  Lunch

12:45

  Choir Practice/Puppet Practice - Optional
It may be fun to have a kids choir sing or a puppet drama for the other kids in the evening service.

1:30

  Day Lesson
Use this hour to teach a story with drama and/or props for kids to join in. Stories such as Gideon, David, etc.

2:30

  Dismissal
If kids are staying through the evening, then planned activity or free time will be good here. Allow time for them to get ready for service and cleaned up after their long day. You'll need to adjust the evening start time depending on your type of "camp."

SATURDAY Evening

5:30

  Arrival and Pre-Service
Use this time to review lessons, etc., and to host a sword drill competition or some other quizzing event on the topic.

6:30

  Pre-Service Prayerwalk
Allow children to prayerwalk through the church or facility to pray for the service beforehand. Also use this time to pray blessing on those who work so hard to include them in the kingdom.
7:00   Begin with Praise & Worship
7:10   Welcome & Announcements
7:15   Choir Song/Puppet Skit
7:25   New Worship Song (theme song)
7:30   Main Lesson/Special Service

Ministry emphasis - First night kids received mandate to praise on purpose. This night, a place in the body of Christ just for them individually. Ministry to others (those they can see, and those they will see in heaven-unreached peoples, etc).
8:30-9:00   Flex Time
9:00   Snack
9:30   Dismissal

Sunday Service - If possible allow children to be involved in ministry in the "Big Church" setting. They can ad to the service by teaching the theme song with motions to the adults/youth and spend time praying for the world...and possibly prayer for those who have special needs.
