Intercede : to
act or interpose in behalf of someone in difficulty
or trouble, as by pleading or petition:
to intercede
with the governor for a condemned man.
There are many examples
in the Bible of people who interceded on behalf of
someone else. Abraham bargained with God for the city
of Sodom. He saw the value in the smallest number of
righteous men. Moses interceded for the Israelites,
many times. Sometimes people had to help the
intercessors stay in the fight like Aaron and Hur did
in Exodus 17.
Intercession can
take many forms and can be done by anyone no matter
what their prayer style is. It is easy to lead kids
into intercession if they realize that all it really
is, is standing in the gap for someone who needs
their prayers.
