During the first week
of June the first ever Prayer In Action Summit was
held during the day sessions at Louisiana Kids Camp.
Spontaneous prayer meetings broke out in dorms as
well as outside by the basketball courts. There were
over 50 people who were healed and 289 kids who received
the Holy Ghost. You may be wondering how in the
world could this happen in a group of 840 children.
My first answer is “with God all things are
possible”, but my other answer would be a well
organized team with a vision.
In Louisiana there is
a group called SALT (Student Action Leadership
Team). This team works together and gains valuable
leadership training that is used to help lead at
camps and in their local assemblies. There were 95
team members this year who had various
responsibilities during the camp. Some where
involved in drama, others clowning, some as worship
leaders, but all showed the love of Jesus to the
kids at the camp.
The team members
were instrumental in teaching kids prayer during the
day sessions. Each member received the
7 Essentials
of Kids Prayer book and learned the basic principles
in the book. They were given a schedule for each day
along with the materials they would need to teach
each day’s lesson. The SALT team broke into groups
of two or three and had anywhere from 15-25 kids in
a group. Each day began with a wake up time and then
everyone broke into small groups for prayer
instruction. After a break the groups all came back
together for a big group session to review what had
been taught and to learn about the prayer topics
more in depth. Many of the ideas presented during
the big group sessions were also taught by SALT team
members.
The week in
Louisiana was a dream come true for someone who
believes that children and youth need to be actively
ministering now. After the experience of this week I
have seen first hand what young people can
accomplish if given the right tools and the trust of
the adults in charge to go for it.
Please check out the
kids
pages for pictures and more stories from the week.
Below are the testimonies from three of the team
members that were involved during the week.

I will never look
at M&M's the same again! Mark has not complained
about his knee since camp. I had a number for a
knee doctor in my wallet and came across it this
past week and just thanked Jesus for his healing and
threw the number away. We no longer need it!! God
is SO GOOD!! (Mark was the clown the children prayed
for during the healing service on Thursday.)
"Kids Camp 2007 was
beyond words. To spend a week in an atmosphere
created by young children which promoted praise,
worship, and healing was an experience beyond words!
I came to camp hoping to somehow be used by God to
bless children throughout the week, but I left
blessed beyond measure!"
Kids camp was absolutely amazing. I have been on
SALT for four years, and this year was the best
ever!!
The thing I love about kids camp is getting to see
these kids fall on their faces before God with such
sincerity. These kids are so hungry for God, and
they don't care if they have to miss out on the fun
stuff going outside or even their lunch. They just
wanted to stay and linger in the presence of God. I
remember there for quite a few times where we had to
basically push them out of the church to go eat! It
was so awesome and I will never forget it!!
Every service my
small group sat in the same section even towards the
end of the week when groups were spreading out and
sitting with their friends. The kids came and found
us every service. I think it was the Wednesday
night, one of our boys in the small group, was so
slain in the spirit we had to pick him up and get
some guys to help him outside while he was still
speaking in tongues.
His friend, also in
our group, came up to me crying a few minutes later.
I asked him what was wrong, and his response was "I
know how hr is feeling. I will never forget the
first time I got the Holy Ghost." Then he asked me,
"Wanna know what else happened tonight?" I asked him
what happened, with tears already streaming down my
face. He said, "God called me to preach tonight, and
if we get a chance I wanna talk to our group this
week!" I was so excited, and I was the first to know
that God had told this young boy what his calling
was already. I was just in awe. God is so good!!!
