This year I had the
great privilege of speaking at the Sunday School
Seminar held in Melun, France on the 17th of March.
I was invited to come and speak about the importance
of kids prayer and how to incorporate that into
Sunday school and children's’ church settings by
using the 7 Essentials of Kids Prayer. The 7
Essentials are a foundation we can teach children
for prayer that will encourage them to continue to
develop their prayer life. There were 77 Sunday
school teachers and workers present.
In the afternoon we
had a time where we practiced what we had been
learning and just waited on the Lord to speak to us.
During this time God spoke specifically to each one
of us present. One of the ladies present shared what
God spoke to her. She saw people with their hands
lifted up and drops falling on them. The Lord also
gave her a scripture which spoke to each of us as
teachers, I Timothy 4:16. After this time of sharing
what God had said His Spirit came in and took
control for a while. During this time I believe God
met the needs we came in with. We received renewed
vision and a fresh burden for the children God has
entrusted us with.
On Sunday morning
the first two Essentials were put into action during
the service at the Eglise Pentecotiste Unie de Melun.
There were 424 people in service and since the
service was focused on children we all picked an age
between five and ten so we could participate.
The children
learned that the first two Essentials are actually
jobs given to them by God; praise and praying for
others. According to Psalm 8:2 children are given a
mandate to worship God because only their worship
can silence the enemy. We put this into practice by
singing and doing motions to “Lord You are Good”.
During this song a volunteer stood in for our enemy
and as we worshipped we put tape on his mouth to
silence him. As we were doing this I noticed a
beautiful site, older children helping the younger
ones reach the enemy to put tape on his mouth.
To help us do our
second job we learned about the people in the 10x40
Window: Tribal, Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim, Buddhist
and Orphans. After we learned about these people and
what to pray for them children were asked to
volunteer to pray for the people in the 10x40
Window. Some of the younger children needed help
with repeat after me prayers but the older ones
needed no help at all.
At the very end of
our time together we spent a few minutes talking
about King Josiah and all the plans that God had for
him before he was even born. The kids were asked if
they would like to know what other jobs God had for
them. They were reminded that unless they had
received the Holy Spirit they would not be able to
do some of the jobs that God needed them to do and
were invited to come forward if they would like to
receive His Spirit and find out the other jobs God
had in store for them. All of the children came
forward boys and girls, young and old. Many children
were refilled and at least two were filled with the
Holy Spirit for the first time.
After the seminar
several teachers came to me with excitement because
they had been praying for something different and
deeper to share with the children they see each week
in class. The Sunday school department in Melun had
a brief meeting right after the seminar to discuss
how to incorporate prayer into Super Church. I
personally was blessed to know that Kids Prayer is
not just for North America, Central America and
Africa. It is for the countries in Europe, the
place that God has placed on my heart for years. I
was thrilled to see children willing to pray in the
microphone for people they did not know after only a
few minutes of instruction.
Children are no
longer the future of the church, they are vital part
of the body of Christ. God proved this to me again
during this trip.
