Bangladesh Kids
Prayer Crusade Report
Ten years ago I began
teaching first graders to pray for those living in the
10/40 Window during Sunday school class. Last week, I
taught children in the 10/40 Window about prayer. It's
been an amazing journey and the Bangladesh Kids Prayer
Crusade makes me want to do more. It's been a process...
Four years ago, Liz Corbin
and her son, Steven, visited our kids prayer group on a
Wednesday night to share their burden for Bangladesh
while her husband, Jimmy, shared his burden with the
adults. That night, a special bond formed. We prayed for
their family and for the country so desperately in need
of a move of the Holy Spirit. Then, three years ago,
revival broke out.

One of my
former first graders, then aged eleven, was the
first kid on location when revival came. Tyler
got to live what I'd taught. Jimmy, Liz and
Steven welcomed Tyler and so did all the
Bangladeshis - and they especially loved his
blond hair! They all encouraged him to bring
other kids with him on future trips...trips
Tyler didn't even know would exist.
This year Tyler
made his third trip to Bangladesh at age

thirteen. In fact, his entire family made the
trip and we all had a fabulous time together!
(In case any of you would wonder, no, Tyler's
family isn't rich. They work hard and had to
raise their own money for the trip through
summer jobs, extra work, and accepting support
from friends.) Honestly for me, one of the
highest moments of my trip was being accompanied
by Tyler on a rickshaw during a portion of the
prayerwalk through old Dhaka. How many Sunday
school teachers and kids prayer leaders will
ever have the opportunity to see the fruit of
their labor first hand as it is still developing
on the vine? What a rush!! |

Tyler's
sister, Cynthia was also an incredible asset during the
kids prayer crusade. She helped with various aspects of
the sessions which lasted anywhere from three to five
hours. Although Cynthia is currently a member of
Shekinah Kids and is receiving prayer leadership
training she, and her brother, receive instruction at
home...and that is what made this trip to
Bangladesh possible!
(Uh-oh, I guess I need
to get back to my topic.)
Between 50-70 kids were
present for the kids prayer crusade. After six sessions
together, some 24 were filled to overflowing with the
Holy Spirit! Nearly all of the kids described some
experience of hearing Jesus speak to them and we all
worshipped together purposefully...to make the enemies
of God silent (Psalm 8:2). The same teachings I have
advocated and shared here in North America are being
proven in places I've been overseas.
As an outgrowth of this
successful trip (see more photos on the
kids page) I have been asked to return to Bangladesh
this fall to assist with an interdenominational
city-wide prayer seminar and then participate in a
prayerwalk in Calcutta. Currently there is a revival
going on among children in Calcutta - some 150 have been
baptized in a small church there and the pastor is
begging for spiritual training for these "new converts."
As the Lord works all things out, it just so happens
that the pastor saw first-hand the results of the kids
prayer crusade, because he was our translator. What an
awesome trip...orchestrated by an awesome God!
I am requesting prayer
for continued personal spiritual growth as I consider
ways to bring kids prayer to as many far away places as
possible.
