Miss Heather's Training Materials

We also did the lesson on Justice using handcuffs. We talked about how people can go to jail sometimes if they steal.
We talked about how you can go to jail…We talked about how just like we have rules here…God has rules/laws.
God’s rule is that when we sin (do wrong things) then the consequence is death.
(We talked about consequences such as if you don’t eat your peas then the consequence is that you don’t get dessert.)
Jesus came to die for our sins so we could be with Him.

That’s like Jesus coming and unlocking the handcuffs on us so that we can live forever with Him. I let each child who wanted a turn (which was all but one) to get handcuffed. As I called their names to line up at the door I handcuffed the child and when I unlocked the handcuffs I said, "Jesus unlocked the handcuffs so {child’s name} could live with Him forever."

They enjoyed the handcuffs.

I've been trying to either leave out the materials I've used in teaching the lessons or have something that is similar to what I've used with which they can play. It's been neat, because some children do choose to play with the items and from time to time I overhear them going over the concepts that we just discussed at circle. I think it's neat for them to have the chance to use the materials...
