Deep Impact

We live in on a planet that is prone to miracles. Yes, prone. As a growing number of God’s people reach out in prayer, He is answering with a show of love and mercy, many times manifesting in supernatural or miraculous ways. Take this story for example, from a missionary in Haiti.

MIRACLE IN HAITI
In Haiti, a Bible school graduate works as a police officer and also assists his father at the church. He was on duty during the height of civil unrest in the country. He was approached by a group of armed men and he resisted. A gun battle raged for several minutes and when it was over the armed men had been wounded or killed. The graduate began to look at himself to make sure he was not wounded. He discovered bullet holes and powder burns on the front of his shirt, but he was not harmed. Here are photos of his shirt as a testimony of God's divine protection. The only bullet proof vest he had on that day was the name of Jesus!

What impact does a story like this make on you?

MIRACLE IN MEXICO
How about this one from a missionary in Mexico. On our way back to Tuxlta Gutierrez (home), we stopped and had services in the jungle at Santo Domingo and Cintalapa. There they told us of the miracle God did for a Baptist lady who came to the pastor because her hands were deformed. He prayed and fasted for her for several days and God made her hand like new again. Because of that the Baptist congregation has been baptized in Jesus' name!

Did it boost your faith? Did it make you hungry for a supernatural experience of your own? Perhaps you are encouraged to go out and be a part of bringing a miracle to someone in need?

THE CHALLENGE
Now, here is a challenge for you. Read these same miracles to the children you come into contact with in your life (Sunday school class, grandchildren, neighbor kids, etc.). Then ask them how these stories affected them. Ask the same leading questions as you were asked a mere 30 seconds ago. How are their answers different from yours?

CHILDREN ARE HUNGRY FOR THE SUPERNATURAL
Let me give you a hint about their reactions. Children today are hungry for the supernatural! Just look at the way cartoons are changing to accommodate this hunger and the way books like the “Harry Potter” series are flying off the shelves. The incredible simple faith of children allows them to believe “anything is possible” and when that combines with healing power in the name of Jesus, miracles are sure to follow these little, but powerful believers. The younger the child, the wilder their faith.

HEALING THROUGH CHILDREN
From around the world stories are emerging about miracles coming through little hands. Children are being taught that the days of miracles are not over and that miracles can spring from their participation. In a recent service in the Midwest, six adults were healed of various pains during a service where children were given permission to pray for them (photo at left). In Africa, children who are learning to pray are also learning that miracles happen…to them. In Asia a child’s prayer raised someone from the dead.

DON'T PRAY ALONE...
Through prayer, miracles come. Miracles show God’s love for humanity. If you want the world to know the good news of God’s love, pray. But don’t pray alone. Train, encourage, and involve children in prayer…miracles are sure to follow.
